Educational Bursaries

BAPM Travel Bursaries supported by Chiesi Ltd

Chiesi Ltd is the UK affiliate of an international pharmaceutical company which historically has provided support for a number of funded travel grants to attendees of the PAS, ESPR (JENS) and Recent Advances in Neonatal Medicine meetings. This support comprises of an invitation package organised by Chiesi Ltd themselves. Chiesi Ltd has since taken the decision to ensure that any such support is seen to remain separate from any potential commercial considerations and BAPM has therefore been approached to manage this aspect with Chiesi Ltd no longer having input to the selection process.

BAPM believes this to be an excellent opportunity, which will allow members of BAPM that are either Consultants, Neonatal Associate Specialist/Specialist Registrars, Paediatric Specialty Trainees at ST4/ST5 levels (who can demonstrate commitment to future Neonatology sub-specialisation), Neonatal Grid Trainees, and Advanced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners to apply to be selected for a Chiesi Ltd funded travel bursary to attend either the PAS, ESPR (JENS Joint European Neonatal Society) and Recent Advances in Neonatal Medicine meetings. In return, any member granted a Chiesi Ltd funded travel bursary will be expected to provide a summary of the meeting attended, which will be shared with the wider BAPM membership.

All members of BAPM are welcome to apply for a travel bursary.  To apply, please complete the application form and return to the BAPM office:    Please note that applications will not be considered unless they are submitted on the appropriate form.

GUIDANCE NOTES - Please read these prior to completing the application form as they provide useful information on how to apply and the selection criteria.

The closing date for receipt of applications:

Recent Advances in Neonatal Medicine (held from 8 - 10 October 2017, Wurzburg, Germany) is 9pm on Sunday 6th August 2017.

ESPR (to be held from 31 October - 4 November, Venice, Italy) is 9pm on Sunday 3rd September 2017

Those who are awarded a Chiesi Ltd funded travel bursary will have their details passed to CFS Events who will take over the responsibility of arranging travel and accommodation for successful candidates.

For the avoidance of doubt, Chiesi neither seeks nor expects those successful candidates to purchase, prescribe, administer, recommend or supply any Chiesi medicinal product in connection with the funding here provided for.

Chiesi Ltd is required to document and publically disclose certain transfers of value made to healthcare professionals, of which such travel bursaries are included. Details of this requirement will be communicated to successful applicants by CFS Events along with details of consent. Please note that if you do not provide your consent in respect of this engagement, your refusal will then apply for the whole year and Chiesi Ltd will not be able to disclose any other transfers of value made to you by Chiesi Ltd within the year. However, if you do not provide your consent Chiesi Ltd will still be required to disclose the information required by the ABPI Code of Practice but will do so on an anonymised, aggregated basis.
