Alert about Vygon double-lumen UVCs

BAPM has been notified of 3 instances, in a single unit within 24 hours, of intraperitoneal extravasation of parenteral nutrition fluid in preterm infants of less than 27 weeks gestation with Vygon double-lumen umbilical venous catheters in place.

The unit in question has contacted Vygon and the MHRA. Please be vigilant with such lines and notify BAPM of any adverse events with these.
