NCEPOD is undertaking a study to identify good practice and remediable factors in the delivery of care provided to children and young people (CYP) (0-18th birthday) undergoing emergency (non-elective) procedures under anaesthetic or sedation. It is recruiting a multi-disciplinary group of healthcare professionals with a working interest in the care of this group.
Case reviewers will be asked to attend meetings during which they will assess case note extracts and provide expert opinion on the care young people receive. A training day is planned for the 13 September 2024 (if you are unable to make this date, training on an ad hoc basis is possible).
You would typically be required to attend a minimum of 4 subsequent case reviewer meetings at the NCEPOD offices in London. It is anticipated case review meetings will run for approximately 6-8 months. The data collected during these meetings will form a major part of the study’s final report. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
NCEPOD is looking for clinicians from a wide variety of specialties, including paediatric and adult surgeons (general and specialist), anaesthetists (general and specialist), emergency medicine clinicians, nurses, paediatricians, radiologists, critical care clinicians and operating department practitioners.
The aim is to recruit clinicians from different clinical grades of at least ST6 or equivalent to ensure that applicants have enough experience for the case note review. Applicants should be in current clinical practice.
