The NeoFOCUS-UK guideline and framework committee is a subgroup within NeoFOCUS-UK, a Special Interest Group affiliated with BAPM.
The aim of the subgroup is to support the development of evidence-based guidelines and frameworks for the safe and effective use of POCUS (Pont Of Care Ultrasonography) in neonatal units, and to support all professionals performing POCUS in neonatal units.
The guideline committee is now seeking members to join projects designed to further expand the activity of the group. It will be working to produce national frameworks for the following domains:
- Lung POCUS
- Central lines POCUS
Candidates are required to be members of NeoFOCUS-UK specialist interest group (free for all BAPM members).
Roles
1. Develop evidence base:
- Collect evidence from literature for different POCUS practices
- Rate quality of evidence obtained
- Create electronic database for reviewed and assessed medical literature pertaining to neonatal POCUS
- To continue updating evidence base
2. Organisation of working of the group:
- Organise meetings of group at regular interval to discuss progress of evidence review and guideline creation
- Create agenda and maintain minutes of the group meetings
- Set clear timelines and goals for the group
- To include processes to ensure guidelines are regularly reviewed and updated with current best evidence
3. Develop guidelines:
- Develop draft guidelines
- Present updated guideline work at NeoFOCUS SIG meetings
- To liaise with other non-neonatal stakeholders i.e. Paediatric Radiology, Paediatric cardiology, to have adequate oversight of other specialities over guidelines
4. Establish working relationship with other organisations:
- To ensure high quality standard of guidelines liaise with other UK organisations to endorse NEO-FOCUS guidelines, including but not limited to RCPCH, BSPR
- To liaise with international organisations for shared learning, including Neonatal Hemodynamic group, EPSNIC

Eligibility criteria
Previous experience in Neonatal POCUS is essential. Previous experience in governance including development and maintenance of guidelines
No previous experience of BAPM working groups is required.
