The theme this year is "Universal Health Coverage: for all children, everywhere" in line with the World Health Organization’s championing of this agenda to ensure that all individuals and communities receive the health services they need without suffering financial hardship.
Achieving UHC is one of the targets the nations of the world set when adopting the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015. Countries that progress towards UHC will make progress towards the other health-related targets, and towards the other goals too. Good health allows children to learn and adults to earn, helps people escape from poverty, and provides the basis for long-term economic development.
At this year’s meeting we will hear from experts in policy, advocacy, ethics, human rights, research and financing, all aiming towards the goal of UHC for all children. Speakers include: Anshu Banerjee, Director of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health, World Health Organization, Geneva and Rob Yates, Head of the Centre on Global Health Security, Chatham House, London. We will welcome speakers from around the globe via teleconference and will be live-streaming the event to colleagues wherever they live and work.
Buffet lunch, drinks, and refreshments throughout the day are included. There will be time set aside for formal and informal networking so that attendees can grow their ideas and make links for future work.
