Hours of service operation
Emergencies: 24/7
Electives: Mon - Sun (07:30-19:30)
Elective transfers: Daytime only
We will undertake elective transfers from any London unit, with any distance inside mainland UK considered. These would usually be nurse-led repatriation (back-transfer) of non-ventilated babies. Transfer of babies for routine investigations (e.g. EEG, EMG) and tertiary outpatient clinics would be considered. These fall under the elective remit, if they fulfil the single clinician criteria. This service is now commissioned by NHS England.
Remit of service: Neonatal transfers only
Any transfer where either the source or destination unit is a Neonatal unit. One unit should be in the London area.
Operational remit: Uplift of care
Capacity transfers will be undertaken if both emergency teams available. No capacity transfers will be undertaken overnight.
